Sacred clown looks on, Santa Fe

What does this Hopi clown think of us as he looks down from his souvenir store window? In Hopi traddition, the Koshari is a sacred clown whose role is to maintain the cohesion of society by mocking and embarrassing tribe members and strangers whose behavior is unhealthy and a danger to the tribe or the individual.

This picture was taken in 2001; I suspect that the Koshari spirit decided then that his presence was desparately needed and chose to lend his inspiration to Jon Stewart and the cast of The Daily Show.
