A Dada statement on the preparation of Texas for global warming
Bull Creek, Austin

Strange but true: this dilapidated fire hydrant stands in the middle of the creek bed. Not at what would be the deepest point but still well into the flow of a normal Spring's rainfall. A sureal location indeed.

To be fair, this year's drought in Texas is thought to be primarily due to the La Niña conditions in the eastern Pacific rather than global warming, but past La Niñas have not brought this much heat to compound the lack of moisture. Presidential candidate Rick Perry does not believe in the human causes of global warming and that is reflected in this year's state budget cut in resources for preventing and fighting wild fires.
